Overview

This course is specifically designed for supervisors and managers of apprentices and trainees. It is a new skill set from the latest Certificate IV in Training & Assessment(TAE40110) Training Package. Supervisors of apprentices and trainees may already be doing much of the work outlined in the coursehowever, your knowledge and skills will be mapped to a course structure and applied to the workplace. Upon completion, participants will be awarded with a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment.

Structure

The course contains three units structured into a three day program which covers the theory and practical application of the skills and knowledge required to be an effective supervisor of apprentices and trainees at your workplace.

  • TAEASS301B: Contribute to Assessment
  • TAEDEL301A: Provide Work Skill Instruction
  • TAEDEL404A: Mentor in the Workplace

Outcomes

And, by the end of the Certificate IV in Training & Assessment – Workplace Supervisor Skillset, you will be able to:

  • Describe the role and responsibility when supervising apprentices/trainees
  • Competently instruct work skills with existing learning resources
  • Evaluate how successful a training session was
  • Evaluate their own personal training performance
  • Collect evidence of skills competency in accordance with apprenticeship requirements
  • Record and record findings of competency
  • Establish and develop a professional mentoring relationship with apprentices/trainees
  • Develop, facilitate and evaluate a mentoring plan
  • Apply adult learning principles

Why the Workplace Supervisor Skill Set?

  • To ensure supervision of apprentices/trainees meets national standards
  • To mitigate risk by being able to demonstrate the supervisors of apprentices/trainees are correctly instructing and teaching their wards
  • To improve safety on site by ensuring apprentices/trainees are properly taught by their mentors

Duration

  • Three day public course from 9am-5am (Wed, Thurs & Fri) in our North Ryde training room
  • 24 hours of training structured at your workplace or onsite to a convenient timetable i.e. three consecutive days, two full days and two half days, one day a week over three weeks
  • There will be a number of training, assessment and coaching projects and tasks
  • 50% in the training room
  • 50% in the workplace
  • Provision of a portfolio of evidence

Tailored Workplace Course

The Certificate IV in Training & Assessment Workplace Supervisor Skill Set can be tailored to an enterprise or workplace. Creativeintension will work with your current training and development team to ensure units of competency in this course have workplace relevance.

Assessments

There will be a number of projects and assessment tasks over the course. Half will be conducted in the training room the other half needs to be conducted in your workplace. Creativeintension’s facilitator will work closely with you to help you complete each project or task to demonstrate competency standards for each unit.

Industry Standards to Note

Prerequisites

There are no formal qualification requirements to undertake the Certificate IV in Training & Assessment Workplace Supervisor Skillset however, good language and literacy skills and computer competency is recommended. During your studies we will provide you with a dedicated facilitator/coach, study materials and as much support as you need.
