Your Student Rights & Obligations

 

 

Students are advised to familiarise themselves with creativeintension’s policies and procedures, and your student rights and obligations, prior to enrolling in a course.

Access & Equity

Creativeintension takes the rights of staff and students seriously and embraces the concept of inclusiveness. Creativeintension will provide an inclusive education service and a learning environment free from discrimination, harassment and victimisation. Student Access & Equity is provided to both public and distance students. Equal opportunity is provided to all students regardless of special requirements or cultural diversity. Creativeintension will assist students with special needs wherever practicable.

All staff and contractors employed or engaged by creativeintension are required to comply with this policy. Creativeintension complies with Commonwealth & State Government Legislation:

Access to Information

Upon application in writing, students have access to view marked assessment workbooks and a summary of their own results. Due to AQTF requirements, Creativeintension must retain your submitted evidence for the duration of our appeals process and, for this reason, we are unable to return your completed work to you. When submitting work, please ensure you have retained a copy for your records.

Assessment Extensions

Applications must be submitted in the required timeframe or by the due date. Extensions may be granted in extenuating circumstances or in an emergency. An ‘Application for Extension Form’ should be completed at least 48 hours prior to the due date, or as soon as possible in the case of an emergency.

Appeals

Students have the right to appeal if they have any concerns or are dissatisfied with the assessment of an assignment. The student must:

  • Approach their trainer or coach in the first instance to discuss and/or request the review of an assessment
  • In the case of review, the student my present a case in writing as to why the marking was unfair or inconsistent
  • If there is conflict between the student and the trainer or coach they can request the review to be handled by the Practice Leader. The Practice Leader will discuss the case with the coach or trainer and investigate the case.
  • The written request for review must be made within 21 days of the release of the marked assessment.
  • If the student is dissatisfied with the outcome of the review they must appeal in writing to the Managing Director within 21 days of the release of the outcome.
  • If the student is dissatisfied with the appeals process, creativeintension will put the student in touch with the relevant external agencies.

Awards & Certificates

  • Certification Certificate: is issued subsequent to successful completion of formal assessment.
  • Statement of Attainment: is issued for competencies covered and assessed in the certification courses.

A fee may apply for re-issue of certificates.

Cancellations & Refunds

The policy for cancellations and refunds is as follows:

  • there will be no refunds where cancellations are made less than two working days prior to course commencement (unless under exceptional circumstances
  • student substitutions can be made by prior arrangement
  • the public course timetable is subject to change, if a student cannot attend an alternative course date a full refund will be issued
  • notification of cancellation or deferment should be made in writing

*Students may be provided with a refund of course fees in exceptional circumstances. Appropriate evidence such as a medical certificate or other relevant documents must accompany any written application for refund.

Course Requirements

Good english language and literacy skills, interpersonal skills, and computer competency is recommended when enrolling in a course. Please contact us if you have concerns about meeting the underpinning skill requirements.

Deferment, Lapsed Studies & Non-completion

Students have a certain timeframe to complete a course. Trainers and coaches will continually review your progress and help you reach your goals. Ultimately, it is up to students to manage studies effectively in order to complete the course within the timeframe.

Deferment

  • Must be in writing to the trainer or coach
  • Maximum deferment of 12 months
  • Only one deferment will be issued per course
  • A student’s enrolment in a course will be cancelled after 12 months (refer to non-completion policy)

Lapsed Studies

Enrolment will be cancelled if your trainer or coach has not received any assessment evidence or appropriate correspondence from students after a 45 day lapse. Students will be notified in writing of any decision to cancel due to lapsed studies. A transcript of results will be send with the notification to cancel. Lapsed students can choose to re-enrol. Refer to re-enrolment policy.

Non-completion

The duration of a course is mapped in the course outline and in personal learning agreements. Courses which are not completed in the given time-frame will be cancelled without refund.

  • Students who do not complete a course can choose to:
  • Be issued with a Statement of Attainment for units completed
  • Re-enrol within twelve months of cancellation date
  • Re-enrolment is subject to a $115 re-enrolment fee, plus an additional coaching fee which is subject to the units already undertaken. A maximum of three months will be provided to complete the course.

Enrolment

By signing and returning the enrolment form, a binding agreement has been entered into. The following terms and conditions apply to enrolment:

  • Agreement to pay the course fee
  • The enrolment fee of $115 (included in the course cost) is not refundable (except in the case where the course is cancelled then a full refund is provided or a transfer is available)
  • Agreement to pay $45 administration fee if a payment is declined when in a payment plan

Feedback

Creativeintension is committed to providing you with the highest possible quality of learning. To assist with this, we will frequently ask for your feedback on different aspects of your course, either in written evaluation sheets or in a group discussion activity. We appreciate your honest and constructive comments and will ensure your privacy is protected at all times.

Grievances & Complaints

Creativeintension takes grievances and complaints serious and is committed to resolving any problems a student has as quickly and amicably as possible. If you have a grievance, you can raise the matter with any member of the creativeintension team clearly stating what your grievance is about. We will then investigate your grievance and you will be notified in writing regarding the outcome of your grievance.

Privacy

Student information is collected for the purpose of training registration, assessment results, certification and other procurement related matters. Students are asked to approve the use of this information by trainers and coaches through signing the registration form. Student information is not disclosed to any third party.

Support

Creativeintension has an inclusive learning culture and offers effective support services to enhance your ability to achieve your goals. A fair and equal allocation of resources and coaching is allocated to each student within the study timeframe. Networks with relevant agencies have also been formed to support participation.

Distance students and their coaches commit to consistent fortnightly communication. Creativeintension prefers this to take place via phone, however, if this is not suitable, email is the preferred alternatively. The creativeintension coach will call the student at an agreed time every fortnight. If the student misses the coaching call, it is their responsibility to arrange an alternatively coaching time. Creativeintension coaches will call three times and will follow up with email correspondence before they move onto formal notification.

Transferring Courses

Change the date of attending a public course

  • Must be 5 working days prior to course commencement
  • Subject to vacancies
  • Re-enrolment fee of $115 (dependent on course)
  • Can nominate replacement student

From public course to a distance course or vice versa

  • Must be 5 working days prior to course commencement
  • Re-enrolment fee of $115 and any cost difference
  • From one course to another
  • On case by case basis
