I have been told my qualification in Training & Assessement is no longer current. is this true? How do I update my credentials?
The NSSC agreed in it's meeting on 26.10.11 that the Determination of Trainer and Assessor Competencies for Trainers and Assessors (currently published within the AQTF Users’ Guide’s) be amended such that:
- Trainers must at a minimum hold TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or demonstrate equivalence of competencies;
- Persons delivering training who are working under the direct supervision of a trainer that holds the Certificate IV in Training or Assessment or has demonstrated equivalent competency (as per #1 above), must at a minimum hold the ‘Enterprise Trainer Skill Set’ as identified in the TAE10 Training and Education Training Package or demonstrate equivalence of competencies; and
- The period during which trainers (as per #1) and persons delivering training under direct supervision (as per #2) can work without holding the minimum competencies relevant to their roles is limited to two years.
The amended determination will be published in mid December 2011, with RTOs required to comply by 1 July 2013. The competency requirements applying to assessors remain unchanged. The requirement to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed also remains unchanged.

What is the difference between TAA and TAE?
TAE40110 is the upgrade of TAA40104. The course has evolved to reflect the changes in workplace training standards and in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) environment. The main difference is the three VET units from TAA have been absorbed into the design, delivery and assessment units of TAE. TAE is made up of 10 units where TAA consisted of 14 units.
TAA40104 and TAE40110 are regarded as equivalent qualifications so there is currently no requirement to upgrade if you already hold a TAA40104.
Why is TAA40104 still being offered?
Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and TAFEs which want to offer TAE40110 have to apply. Many that have not been given permission as yet still offer TAA40104. Creativeintension offers the latest Training & Assessment qualification.
Can I just complete some of the units?
Yes. We deliver skill sets or modules face to face or via distance that allow students to complete the units that they need to perform a specific job. Students who complete particular module or units will receive a Statement of Attainment.
Do I have to be working in training to do the course?
No you don't. However, it is helpful if you can use your work to conduct some of your training sessions and practical assessments.
How long does the course take to complete?
Distance Course | Our distance course can be completed at your own pace. You have a maximum of 12 months to complete from the time of enrolment. If you want to fast-track the qualification our face-to-face intensive course is the better option.
Face-to-Face Course | Our public face-to-face public course is run for three full days per week over a three week period, you then have three weeks to complete two days of workplace training and then return for a debrief of your workplace projects. A total of 12 days over 7 weeks.
Corporate Course | For companies, we can create bespoke training materials and devise a timetable that suits.
Can I complete the course part Face-to-Face and part distance?
Yes. We offer flexible blended learning options to students. You can complete modules in the classroom and modules with our distance coaches. You will need to contact us to arrange this.
I can't take nine days out of a working month to complete the intensive Face-to-Face course. Is it possible to study a different module every month?
Yes. You can study a module separately with the intention of completing the face-to-face course over a longer period of time.
My work requires me to have the Training & Assessment Assessor skill set. Can I study that module only?
Yes. Many of our students only require this module and we offer it separately in our Face to Face or distance courses. More information…
